Annual Bowl-A-Thon
September and October
Held each fall, Junior Achievement’s long-running Bowl-A-Thon is a multi-day fundraiser during which hundreds of people enjoy bowling, prizes, music and camaraderie at bowling centers in Boynton Beach, Jupiter, Lake Worth and Stuart. Its purpose is to bring together employees whose companies support and believe in the mission of Junior Achievement and to help raise money to expand Junior Achievement programs locally. Register as a member of a team from your company or group, with a team goal of securing donations from vendors, friends, family, neighbors and colleagues. Our Bowl-A-Thon is one of the most fun-filled ways to support Junior Achievement!
Classroom Volunteer
Various times available
Junior Achievement needs positive role models like you to volunteer to teach various programs in K-12th grades focusing on work readiness, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. The majority of our programs are implemented in public, private and parochial schools throughout Palm Beach, Martin, and Hendry counties. After-school and summer programs are also available. We provide all of the classroom materials and a complete orientation. Volunteer time commitment is minimal: make just 5-10 classroom visits (depending on the grade level selected, for approximately 40 minutes each visit). Help Junior Achievement reach the five year goal of 35,000 students! Be part of this exciting experience to help kids prepare for the future workforce!
Annual Golf Invitational
April 30, 2010
The 2010 Junior Achievement Bradshaw Golf Classic will be held at Ironhorse Country Club on Friday, April 30, 2010. The annual Golf Tournament is a prestigious event to build client relationships for our participants while raising funds for Junior Achievement programs. While you enjoy a perfectly groomed course, a continental breakfast, a best ball scramble, and an award lunch, you will meet top executives throughout the Palm Beach and Martin County areas and their guests, clients, and business associates.
Watch A Rising Star
November 14th, 2009
On November 14th, five talented graduating seniors will perform at this year’s Watch a Rising Star. The five finalists will compete for $5,000 in college scholarships at Junior Achievement’s annual fund raiser. The event is produced by Kathi Kretzer of Kretzer Pianos. Held at the Borland Center in Palm Beach Gardens, and catered by Café Chardonnay, Watch a Rising Star also features a silent auction during the cocktail hour, and a live auction during dinner. Each of the five finalists, chosen from applicants from every high school in Palm Beach and Martin County, will sing two songs for a distinguished panel of judges.
In addition to the evening’s musical and fund raising activities, Junior Achievement of the Palm Beaches will also honor Mr. Greg Rice for his many contributions to the local economy. A business leader, entertainer, and visionary, Mr. Rice has made his mark in many fields. In addition to the instantly recognizable commercials that Mr. Rice and his late twin brother John wrote, produced and starred in for Hulett Pest Control, Greg Rice has been a successful real estate agent, entrepreneur, television pioneer, and advocate for education. Junior Achievement is honored to have him as part of this year’s Watch a Rising Star.
