Programs Overview

Junior Achievement offers Classroom Based Programs for students in K-12 grades. All of the programs have a corresponding “kit”. The program kit provides all the lesson plans and materials needed to teach a class of up to 32 students. Each elementary school program contains 5 lessons, each middle school program contains 6 lessons and each high school program contains 7-12 lessons depending on the course being taught. A forty-five minute class period is required to teach each lesson.

All of the programs focus on the skills necessary for students to develop work readiness, financial literacy and entrepreneurism. The programs are designed to be interactive using practical hands on activities that reinforce key concepts to prepare and inspire students to succeed in a global economy.

The programs correlate with the Sunshine State Standards for Grade Level Expectations.

The Primary Components of a Program Kit are:

  • A Junior Achievement Banner
  • Comprehensive Guides for Volunteers and Teachers
  • Student Workbooks (grades 5-12)
  • Table Tents
  • Take-Home Newsletters
  • Pre- and Post-Tests
  • Certificates of Achievement
  • Survey forms
  • Lesson Specific Activities in the form of stories, games, diagrams, worksheets, CD-ROMs, etc… many of which are facilitated by having students work in teams.

After training by a JA staff member, volunteers visit their assigned classroom to meet the teacher and students prior to starting the program.
